About Us

There is nothing to sign up for at CalorLab. It is a daily calorie calculator, it does one thing — turns your basal metabolic rate and activity level into a daily calorie target for losing, gaining or maintaining weight — and it gives you the answer without first asking who you are.

What CalorLab is for

Plenty of health and body-composition pages already exist. Most of them make you dismiss a banner, ignore a modal and scroll past filler before the tool appears. CalorLab inverts that: the tool is the page, it turns your basal metabolic rate and activity level into a daily calorie target for losing, gaining or maintaining weight, and everything else is explanation you can read or skip.

How the maths is done

No server is involved in the arithmetic. It multiplies your BMR by an activity factor between 1.2 and 1.9, then applies a deficit or surplus of roughly 500 calories per day for about a pound of change per week. We state the method openly because a tool that cannot explain its own answer is not much use to anyone trying to trust it.

Your data stays here

Your input stays local: your body measurements and activity level are handled entirely by the page and never leave your device. You can turn off your connection after loading and the tool still works, which is the simplest proof that nothing is being sent.

Who tends to use it

Keeping the lights on

CalorLab costs nothing to use, and the hosting is paid for by advertising. That advertising is kept separate from the calculation: it cannot see what you type and it has no influence on the result.
